This morning I was greeted by loud Hawk Squawks in my front yard. I rushed outside, quickly changing the lens on my Canon 7D to the 100-400mm L zoom.
High in the trees this Red-Shouldered Hawk had all the song birds up-in-arms. I even saw a Baltimore Oriole take a dive at him. The Hawk finally gave up and flew up just moments after I managed to capture this one shot. Perhaps he’ll be luckier on another day.

We have neighborhood “red-tail” hawks. The other day one was flying right above Maggie & I while we were on our walk. It was trying to get a solo seagull that had flown inland….not sure if it was successful, but it was tenacious….
ps. We love birds, all kinds. Maggie likes them in her mouth, but it’s a no no.
So does my cat Tuxedo. Especially the pretty bright yellow ones. I keep telling him Mouth Off and go and catch mice instead. 🙂 Thanks for your kind comments today. Funny about the hawk.
Cool Photo Capturing a Hawk – AMAZING!!!
Thanks Renee ! I literally had a moment to get it. Next time I’ll be prepared with the camera!
